Ybor City, known as the Cigar Capital of the United States, carries a legacy deeply embedded in cigar culture. On my first visit to this historic district, I made a stop at La Faraona Cigar Factory, a boutique lounge that continues to honor tradition through craftsmanship and passion.

One of the most rewarding aspects of visiting La Faraona was picking up a few cigars directly from the factory. There’s something distinct about experiencing a cigar in the place where it was crafted—where the atmosphere, the history, and the people behind it all contribute to a deeper appreciation of the leaf. Much like a well-crafted cigar, a humidor plays a vital role in preserving its integrity. Just as the rollers at La Faraona ensure each cigar is made with precision, a quality humidor safeguards that craftsmanship—maintaining the perfect conditions so that every cigar smokes just as intended.

Walking into La Faraona, you immediately feel the weight of history and dedication that defines Ybor City’s cigar scene. During my visit, I met Odelma Matos, the owner and master roller, who introduced herself as Farona. Her presence in the lounge embodies the dedication and expertise required to carry forward a legacy as rich as Ybor’s.
